So, we're in LA...
Apr. 30th, 2005 12:23 pmWell, Orange County. We got here on Wednesday, at about 3pm (11pm UK time). The flight was about 11hrs but was okay, no turbulence or delays. Martin and Brigitte are staying at Rick's but we had decided to stay in a hotel just up the road, as having four people staying over is kind of a bit much. Wednesday night we pretty much dumped our suitcases and went straight to Rick's where Michelle fed us all spaghetti and sauce. Yesterday we did some shopping and went to South Coast Plaza which is apparently hte richest mall in the world, and the Anti-Mall where I managed to get a "secondhand" Tripp dress for $13 which as far as I can see has never been worn.
Today was Rick and Michelle's son CJ's 5th birthday. We went out for lunch with Rick and Winter (baby - v. cute), Michelle had taken CJ to Disneyland and then we all went to Chuck E Cheese this evening for his birthday party which was more than a little surreal. Chuck E Cheese is a children's restaurant. It does pizza mainly, but also burgers. Half of it is restaurant and the other half is token operated games and computer games. It also has this constant Chuck E Cheese TV thing going on and has an animatronic Mouse puppet (Chuck himself) who mouths along to the songs. Chucks miming was about as synchronised as Milli Vanilli's. The pizza was pretty reasonable, the fizzy drinks were okay, but in grown up drinks they did "beer", some sort of generic stuff that looked and tasted like an urine sample and "chablis" which appeared to be Marquis de Reminy or Lambrini under an assumed name.
The evening was capped off by three boys in about 10, 12 and 14, who looked suspiciously like Hansen, getting into the booth with Animatronic Chuck E and molesting him. We all just stood there open mouthed with shock, and laughing hysterically, as these lads poledanced and lapdanced Chuck. I kid you not. BRigitte reckons she'll be mentally scarred for life.
Tomorrow we're going to Huntingdon Beach in the day time and Bar Sinister in the evening which I'm looking forward to.
Will see you guys soon.
